Hamish Douglass
Chairman, CIO and Lead Portfolio Manager
Hamish Douglass is Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Magellan Financial Group, and Lead Portfolio Manager of Magellan’s Global Equity strategies.
Hamish is a former member of the Australian government’s Financial Literacy Board, the Australian government’s Takeovers Panel, the Australian government’s Foreign Investment Review Board and the Forum of Young Global Leaders – World Economic Forum. Hamish is a Director of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
Domenico Giuliano
Deputy CIO, Head of ESG and Portfolio Manager
Domenico Giuliano joined Magellan in 2007 with responsibility for research coverage of the financials sector.
In 2014, Dom was promoted to Deputy Chief Investment Officer and is the portfolio manager of the Global Sustainable and the Global ESG strategies, while still covering financial stocks. Prior to Magellan, Dom was an executive director at Morgan Stanley, with responsibility for leading sector coverage of insurance companies for Asia Pacific. Dom also worked as a consultant with Tillinghast-Towers Perrin, working across a wide span of assignments.
Dom holds a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.
Dom is a member of Magellan’s Investment Committee.
Gerald Stack
Head of Investments, Head of Infrastructure and Portfolio Manager
Gerald Stack joined Magellan in 2007 and is Head of Investments and leads the team responsible for managing Magellan’s infrastructure portfolios and providing research coverage of companies within the infrastructure, transport and industrials sector.
Prior to joining Magellan, Gerald was a director of Capital Partners (now known as CP2) where he was head of securities research and a member of the management and investment committees. Gerald has extensive experience in the analysis and investment management of listed and unlisted debt, equity and hybrid assets on a global basis.
Gerald holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Master of Business Administration, both from Sydney University, and is a Chartered Accountant.
Gerald chairs Magellan’s Investment Committee.
Vihari Ross
Head of Research and Head of Core Series/Portfolio Manager
Vihari Ross is a Portfolio Manager, Head of the Core Series and Head of Research.
Vihari has 20 years experience in investment and joined Magellan in 2007.
Prior to her appointment to Head of Research she was Head of the Franchises team and retains responsibility for research coverage of franchises stocks. Before joining the Franchises team in 2009, Vihari was a Senior Analyst on the Financials team. Prior to Magellan, Vihari spent four years as an equity analyst at Ausbil Dexia, covering the financials and consumer sectors, and worked as a quantitative analyst at Commonwealth Investment Management (now Colonial First State). Vihari holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Actuarial Studies and Finance and a Master of Commerce majoring in Finance from the University of New South Wales. She is an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries. Vihari is a member of Magellan’s Investment Committee.
Stefan Marcionetti
Portfolio Manager
Stefan Marcionetti is a Portfolio Manager of the Magellan Global Trust and has worked as an Assistant Portfolio Manager on the global equities strategies since 2015.
Stefan joined Magellan in 2013 initially in the Technology, Communications and Media team. Prior to Magellan, Stefan was an analyst at Gladstone Partners, a UK-based global equity long-short fund, and worked in Deutsche Bank’s investment banking team.
Stefan holds a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) from the University of New South Wales.
Stefan is a member of Magellan’s Investment Committee.
Chris Wheldon, CFA
Portfolio Manager
Chris Wheldon is a Portfolio Manager of the Magellan High Conviction Strategy and an Assistant Portfolio Manager on the global equities strategies.
Chris joined Magellan in 2007, initially as a senior investment analyst working in the Franchise Team and was promoted to become the Head of the Industrials Team. Chris moved to Magellan’s New York office in 2015 and one year later left to join Davis Advisors as an analyst. Chris re-joined Magellan in 2018 in Australia as a Portfolio Manager.
Chris is a CFA Charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Business Management from The University of Queensland.
Chris is a member of Magellan’s Investment Committee.
Ben McVicar, CFA
Portfolio Manager
Ben McVicar joined Magellan in 2013 as an Investment Analyst in the Infrastructure, Transport & Industrials Team.
Ben was promoted to the additional role of Assistant Portfolio Manager in August 2016 and subsequently promoted to Portfolio Manager in January 2017. Prior to Magellan, Ben spent nearly five years as an equities analyst at Credit Suisse in Sydney, most recently as lead analyst for Australian utilities. Ben has previously had experience in the small caps, energy and telecoms sectors.
Ben holds a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours), for which he was awarded a University Medal, from The University of Queensland and is a CFA Charterholder.
Ofer Karliner, CFA
Portfolio Manager
Ofer Karliner joined Magellan in 2016 in the Infrastructure, Transport & Industrials Team, with responsibility for company analysis and portfolio management functions.
Ofer was promoted to Portfolio Manager in 2017. Ofer has more than 20 years' experience in investment, including more than a decade in infrastructure investment. Prior to joining Magellan, Ofer provided independent infrastructure research, which followed four years as a senior analyst within Colonial First State Global Asset Management’s global listed infrastructure team. Ofer’s prior experience includes roles as head of transport infrastructure at CP2, and various senior roles at Macquarie Securities and the New South Wales Roads and Traffic Authority in Australia.
Ofer holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia, and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management. Ofer is a CFA Charterholder.

Kris Webster, CFA
Head of Technology, Communications and Media and Portfolio Manager
Kris is Head of the Technology, Communications and Media Team, responsible for covering stocks across both the Global Equities and Global Infrastructure strategies, and in 2016 was appointed to the additional role of Portfolio Manager. In 2013, Kris moved to the US to open Magellan’s New York investment office and in 2017 he returned to Magellan’s Sydney office. Prior to Magellan, Kris spent five years with Capital Partners (now CP2) as a senior investment analyst with a focus on transport and infrastructure, as well as general coverage. Kris spent four years as an academic at the University of New South Wales’ School of Banking and Finance.
Kris is a CFA Charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of New South Wales.
Kris is a member of Magellan’s Investment Committee.
Alan is Head of the Financials Team and in 2016 was appointed to the additional role of Portfolio Manager. Prior to Magellan, Alan spent nearly seven years as an analyst and portfolio manager at Maple-Brown Abbott, primarily covering financials in Asia ex-Japan. Alan also worked for six years as an economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia, spending time as a banking sector analyst and in the Reserve Bank’s business liaison program.
Alan holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from the University of Tasmania.
Alan is a member of Magellan’s Investment Committee.
Arvid Streimann, CFA
Head of Macro and co-Portfolio Manager of the Global Equity Strategy
Arvid Streimann joined Magellan in 2014 as a Senior Analyst in the Financials Team. In 2017, Arvid was appointed Head of Macro research and chairs the Macro Committee. In 2018, he was made a Portfolio Manager and in 2020 he was promoted to co-Portfolio Manager of the Global Equity Strategy.
Prior to Magellan, Arvid spent 10 years in the research departments of Morgan Stanley and UBS, covering financial institutions and economics. Previously, Arvid assisted insurers with their growth strategies at Aon and spent four years in the Reserve Bank of Australia’s economics and financial markets groups.
Arvid holds a Bachelor of Economics (First Class Honours) from the Australian National University and is a CFA Charterholder.
Arvid is a member of Magellan’s Investment Committee.
John Wylie
Head of Healthcare and Portfolio Manager
John Wylie joined Magellan in 2014 as an Investment Analyst. In 2018, John was promoted to Head of Healthcare and in 2020 was made a Portfolio Manager.
Prior to Magellan, John spent more than five years in Citigroup’s investment banking division with a focus on M&A coverage for financial institutions. John also worked in Citigroup's general industrials coverage team.
John holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Finance) and Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) from the University of Sydney.
John is a member of Magellan's Investment Committee.
Ryan Joyce, CFA
Co-Head of Technology, Communications and Media and Portfolio Manager
Ryan Joyce joined Magellan in 2012 as an investment analyst in the Franchises team. In 2019, Ryan was appointed co-Head of Technology, Communications and Media and in 2020 he was made a Portfolio Manager.
Prior to Magellan, Ryan spent 18 months working as a civil engineer in Queensland, most recently at Aurecon. Ryan’s experience includes capital-cost estimates for infrastructure projects, detailed engineering design and optimisation studies.
Ryan is a CFA Charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) from the University of Queensland and a Graduate Certificate in Commerce.
Ryan is a member of Magellan's Investment Committee.
Greg Dring
Portfolio Manager and Co-Head Franchises
Greg Dring joined Magellan in 2014 as Head of Franchises and in 2020 he was made a Portfolio Manager.
Greg holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (1989) and a Fellow of FINSIA (1992).
Greg is a member of Magellan’s Investment Committee.​
Hannah Dickinson
Portfolio Manager and Co-Head Franchises
Hannah Dickinson joined Magellan in 2016 to cover franchise and consumer stocks.
In 2020, Hannah was promoted to Co-Head of the Franchises team. Hannah’s previous industry experience includes roles as an analyst in the investment banking division of Moelis & Company from 2015 and, prior to this, within the valuations team at KPMG.
Hannah holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland.
Prior to Magellan, Frank held a senior distribution management role at Colonial First State (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Commonwealth Bank), one of Australia’s largest and most successful investment and platform administration companies. Frank began his career at Australian Eagle Insurance Group in 1979, later joining Colonial First State (then known as First State Fund Managers) as its Queensland State Manager in 1992 and relocating to Sydney to take up the role of Head of Adviser Distribution in 2001. During his 14 years with the Colonial Group, Frank was a significant contributor to the strategy that resulted in growth in funds under management and administration from $800 million to more than $100 billion in 2007. Frank’s role at Colonial extended from the promotion of Colonial’s asset management business capability to its entry into the platform market, with the extremely successful launch of FirstChoice in 2002.
Frank is a passionate believer in quality financial planning advice, and is a regular speaker at industry and dealer group conferences in Australia and overseas.
Mark Burgess
Head of Research Relationships and Key Account Manager
Before that, Mark spent two years at Zurich Investments as a key account manager and head of research, having previously held distribution roles over five years at Challenger Financial Services including state manager of NSW and head of research relationships. Mark has also worked in distribution at Colonial First State and at BT Funds Management.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Wollongong and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance.
Before that, Mark spent three years at Fidelity International as national account manager with responsibility for dealer group, platform and financial planner relationships. Before that, Mark was a portfolio specialist and business development manager at Perpetual Investments for five years in Sydney and Melbourne, and state manager Victoria and Tasmania for IWL, providing software solutions to financial planning businesses. Mark commenced in the financial services industry in 1998 and held financial planning roles with AXA, Australian Unity and WHK.
Mark holds a Diploma of Financial Planning and a Graduate Certificate of Applied Finance, and was awarded the Claritas Investment Certificate by the CFA Institute.
Jennifer Herbert
Key Account Manager - Listed Funds
Jennifer Herbert joined Magellan in 2014 to help launch Magellan’s active ETFs on the Australian Securities Exchange.
After leaving in 2017, Jennifer rejoined Magellan in 2019 to promote the listed funds. Prior to Magellan, Jennifer spent more than 12 years working for investment banks such as Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank in equity and derivatives-dealing roles.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Sydney.
Prior to Magellan, Emma worked in wealth management at ANZ Banking, focusing on advice remediation and governance programs. Before that, Emma was a member of the leadership team at Asgard Wealth Solutions and BT Financial Group where she was responsible for licensee growth initiatives and diversifying revenue streams. She commenced her career in financial services in 1995 and has held business development and advice specialist roles at AMP Financial Services.
Emma holds a Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance) from the Queensland University of Technology, a Diploma of Financial Services from Deakin University and a Green Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma from the Australian Graduate School of Management.
Since joining, Jack has been responsible for developing relationships with financial planners, high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients in Australia, Asia and the UK. Before Magellan, Jack spent two years in client services at Colonial First State.
Jack holds a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, a Bachelor of Business from the Australian Catholic University and a Diploma of Financial Planning from Kaplan.
Prior to Magellan, Emma spent more than four years working in business development and investment research at Colonial First State.
Emma has a double degree in Economics and Languages from the University of Western Australia, and is CIMA (Certified Investment Management Analyst®) qualified.
Before that, Allan gained more than 25 years experience in financial services, encompassing roles in operations, administration, project management, technical services and business development in funds management. During this time, Allan spent seven years at HSBC Asset Management where he was Victorian state manager.
Allan holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting.
Allan is based in the Melbourne office.
Felicity Haines
Key Account Manager - VIC
Felicity joined Magellan in March 2017 as Key Account Manager.
Prior to this role, Felicity worked with NAB Wealth where she held the roles of State Manager and Investment Specialist. Prior to this, Felicity was a Business Development Manager with Colonial First State from 2006 to 2012.
Before deciding to further her career in Sales and Distribution, Felicity spent three successful years as a Financial Planner, specialising in Retirement strategies.
Felicity holds Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance) from Monash University and has completed the Diploma of Financial Planning (Deakin University).
Victoria Flygare
Business Development Manager - SA
Victoria Flygare joined Magellan in 2012 as a member of the Investment Team and is now based in South Australia as a member of the company’s Distribution Team.
As a trader with the company for five years, Victoria helped build Magellan’s trading function and develop the ASX-listed products. Victoria moved interstate in 2017 to be Magellan’s Business Development Manager - South Australia.
Prior to joining Magellan, Victoria worked as an institutional dealer at Ankura Capital and operations manager at Eight Investment Partners.
Victoria holds a Bachelor of Commence and Bachelor of Business Law from Bond University where she was a Vice-Chancellor Scholar.
Rob entered the financial services sector soon after arriving in Australia in 1995. His experience has spanned both the financial planning and asset management sides of the sector. Most recently, Rob spent 10 years at Colonial First State as Queensland State Manager and later as National Manager of Colonial’s boutique funds management businesses.
Rob is based in Magellan’s Brisbane office.
Nicole Morrell
Key Account Manager - QLD, Northern NSW
Nicole Morrell joined Magellan in 2014, having commenced her career in the finance and funds management industry in Australia in 1995.
Prior to Magellan, Nicole held the position of Investment Specialist with Perennial Investment Partners for more than seven years. Before joining Perennial, Nicole was the State Sales Manager in Queensland for Kaplan, a leading education company in the financial services industry, and worked in Australian banking for more than eight years.
Nicole holds an Advanced Diploma in Financial Services (Financial Planning).
Prior to Magellan, Parry gained 14 years' financial services experience in New Zealand through numerous senior sales and marketing roles, including a senior business development manager and national key account manager at BT Funds Management. Parry has extensive experience in managing relationships with key financial planners, platforms, institutional and high-net-worth clients.
Parry holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance and International Business from Massey University.
Parry is based in Magellan’s Auckland office and has responsibility for New Zealand.
Adam Smith joined Magellan in 2011. As Head of Trading, Adam oversees all equity and FX trading activities. Prior to Magellan, Adam worked in a variety of trading and advisory roles at Macquarie Group, BCA Research and JP Morgan.
Adam holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Prior to Magellan, Marcia was Chief Compliance Officer at Platinum Asset Management in Sydney for 5 years. Before that, she held senior roles, including Chief Compliance Officer, in the USA at Dodge & Cox. Marcia brings over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry in Australia and the USA and has been responsible for national and international regulatory requirements, the development and maintenance of risk and compliance frameworks, licensing, proxy voting, training and liaising with regulators, auditors and clients. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wollongong University.
Prior to Magellan, Craig worked in corporate development in the UK at Rentokil Initial PLC and The Hertz Corporation, where he led a number of M&A, joint venture, restructuring and strategic projects. Craig also spent over 15 years in equities markets and investment banking, and was previously a director at Deutsche Bank, providing strategic advice to Australian companies and advising on capital raising and M&A transactions. Craig holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Queensland, a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance & Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Masters in Applied Finance from Macquarie University.
Before that, Leo spent seven years as a corporate lawyer in private and in-house practice specialising in financial services, mergers and acquisitions and commercial law. From 2008 to 2014, Leo held the concurrent role of Company Secretary for the ASX-listed Magellan Financial Group Ltd.
Leo holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. Leo is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, a member of the Law Society of New South Wales and a member of a GC100 Group of the Association of Corporate Counsel – Australia.
Prior to Magellan, Kirsten gained 20 years' experience in funds management (real estate), banking and media. Kirsten has held various finance positions including Head of Finance – ASX Listed & Unlisted Property/REITs at Colonial First State Global Asset Management, Group Financial Controller roles at The GPT Group and Fairfax Media, and 12 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in audit, accounting consulting services and insolvency management, in both Australia and the US.
Kirsten is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, actively involved in the Chartered Accountants Program, a board member of the financial reporting panel for the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants and former honorary auditor for Glaucoma Australia.
He was promoted to Investment Operations Manager in 2013 and to Head of Investment Operations in December 2016. Prior to joining Magellan, Anthony was responsible for the operations of a boutique hedge fund and prior to this he spent four and a half years in a variety of roles at Macquarie Bank. Anthony has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney.
